Free Printable ABC Busy Book – Alphabet Worksheets

Alphabet Shadow Matching
Incorporating a printable worksheet that has shadow matching can help with letter recognition.
Not only do kids practice identifying both uppercase and lowercase letters by matching them to their shadow shapes, (reinforcing visual memory), shadow matching improves the ability to notice subtle differences in letter shapes, which is especially useful similar letters like b/d or p/q.
Using this ABC worksheet as either a cut-and-paste activity or simply a placement matching helps strengthen hand-eye coordination and fine motor control.

Fun Alphabet Tracing Letters
Print the worksheets to trace the letters in the correct sequence, the directional arrows will help. There are 3 letter in each case to trace and some space for kids to write the letters on their own to show what they learnt.
In the middle of the worksheet are a set of bigger letters with arrows. These are either be traced with a pencil / crayon or if you are using a page protector bring out the playdough to for the letters.
Two starting sound shadow images are also included to help with shape recognition.

Sequencing Letters
Learning the order for the alphabet is great for organizational skills among other things. In this alphabet worksheet we ask “what letter comes before”.
Younger kids that have not yet memorized the alphabet can use an alphabet chart to look the order up as well.

Alphabet Maze
On these ABC worksheets we have a maze to navigate as well as bubbles with matching and mis-matching letters. Kids with either color, cover or stamp the letters to the matching alphabet.
Tracing paths in a maze builds hand-eye coordination and pencil control, which are essential for handwriting.

Find the other half of the letter card by matching the image.
Beginning Sounds
Add a picture to the letters and say the name. This printable is perfect for preschool and kindergarten as beginning sound worksheets support phonics and pre-reading confidence.
Connecting letters with their starting sounds (e.g., B is for ball) reinforces letter recognition and phonics.
